Indian cinema has not failed to amaze us with its comedy films. Some of them have gone down as all -time iconic(s) and are loved by the masses. Not only from India, but also from all over the world. Phir Hera Pheri completed 14 years of its release on 9 June. This #FilmyFriday, we decided to revisit the film and understand why is it loved even today.

Neeraj Vora, one of the finest comedy film writers, who has delivered hits like Khiladi 420, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and many more, came up as a director with Phir Hera Pheri in 2006. The movie is a sequel of his earlier super-hit comedy Hera Pheri. The prequel received so much love from the audience that it was almost obvious the 2006 movie would receive acclaim.
Both the films starred the iconic Bollywood sensations Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty in the lead roles. Let us take a trip down the memory lane and recollect the film:
The movie starts with a narration describing about their past lives followed by the scene of their bungalow. All three of them have lost someone precious when the movie begins. Shyam (Suniel Shetty) has lost the love of his life Anuradha (played by Tabu in Hera Pheri), Raju (Akshay Kumar) lost his mother and the most loved character of all the three, Baburao Ganpatrao Apte (Paresh Rawal), having nothing to lose, lost a part of his low common sense.
The actors have done an amazing job throughout the film and there stands no reason to dislike this film or its amazingly crafted characters.
The dialogues were very apt. The comedy of errors that the film takes us through has the actors nailing the comic timing to perfection. Nothing tops the trident's chemistry. Although the ideas of the film were extracted from other Hollywood hits, I think that no other Indian comedy flick will be able to attract the same amount of viewers that this film has.

Personally, I feel that the movie was incredible. I have never missed watching the movie whenever it is being broadcasted on television, not to forget that I can watch it online whenever I want to. The film has always managed to make me happy when my mood isn’t good. The movie is also labelled as ‘meme material’ due to the movie's overwhelmingly hilarious dialogues.
Some of the most iconic dialogues from this movie, which have a sarcastic flavour to them, such as Raju's “Zor zor se bolke schemein bataade logon ko” and Babu Bhaiyya's “Kya gunda banega re tu” or “Tu toh dev manus nikla re” hold a special place in not just my heart but in every Hera Pheri lover's heart. We use these regularly while joking with friends.

What makes the youth of today love this film?
The thing about Phir Hera Pheri is that the jokes never get old. They are timeless. Also is the fact of nostalgia, rarely we see such films in Bollywood in recent times where situation arises comedy, where characters come together for a chaotic climax where riots of laughter erupt. The dialogues were so candid, they felt relatable. The characters of Baburao or Raju were so bad but so good and their savage trolls were unmatched. The love for each other despite their constant rivalry feels like family. Phir Hera Pheri is undeniably unforgettable due to these aspects.

The third movie in the franchise is reportedly in the works and will star the original trio of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty. I wonder if it will be as impeccable as the previous two parts. Let us wait till then and re-watch these films.
