The 2019 remake of The Lion King was a huge box office hit crossing $1.6 billion and Pirates of the Caribbean is the studios most successful franchise with a total over $4.5 billion. Here are some Disney characters who entertained and left us a with a valuable message:
1. Cinderella – Cinderella teaches us a lot such as never stop believing in your dreams, stay optimistic and work a little harder to achieve your goals. It’s okay to cry; crying doesn’t mean that your weak, It takes a certain level of self-assurance to know that tears are simply a way to let out the overflow of emotions and you can’t always pile up your emotions, one day or another you’ll have to let go and accept them openly. Know your self-worth; you are more than what you think you are, jump out of your comfort zones and don’t be afraid to try new things. But mostly forgive and forget, forgiveness is the bravest thing you can do.
2. Flynn Rider and Rapunzel (Tangled) – it’s okay to let people know the real you, don’t be afraid of letting people in. Take pride in yourself, be fearless, and embark yourself on new adventures. Give people a chance, first impressions are not always correct; there is always a good measure in people and mostly Fight Girl! Fight for your life, fight for your dreams, not even the tallest tower can stop you from achieving your dreams.
3. Aladdin – Lying won’t get you anywhere, in fact it’ll come back and bite you in the back. If people can’t appreciate the real you, they aren’t worth your time. Don’t be greedy, greediness won’t get you anywhere in life as long as greed is stronger than your passion, there will always be a suffering and most importantly, value your friendship both good and bad.
4. Princess Jasmine (Aladdin) – This beautiful goddess taught us to just be your own person, don’t change yourself for the sake of others. She also gave us a lesson about women, you can’t just control and own women, respect their needs, protect her, treat her with dignity and grace. Together Aladdin and jasmine taught us that dreams can come true just don’t give up hope, what is meant to be yours, it will be. And primarily pay attention to the people around you. You may not just be paranoid. That creepy guy looking at you might really be a creepy bad guy planning to make you his plaything.
5. Mulan (Mulan) - This rebel teaches us to take charge of your own destiny, sometimes you need to break some set of rules, sacrifice certain things for the wellbeing of your family, friends and yourself and it’s OKAY. No one should be in charge of your life so just live it to the fullest. Step out make some new friends; you never know who will wind up being your closest friend, a mini dragon perhaps.
6. Alice (Alice In Wonderland) – You are a different person today than you were yesterday, very often we’re burdened from the choices we make in the past, the unfulfilled goals and dreams, people letting you down, all this can have a major effect on your mental health. What everyone should take away from Alice is that we are a different person today than we were yesterday, and we can be a different person tomorrow too. Whether you choose to continue being the person you were yesterday or work to be a better person tomorrow it’s pretty much up to you. Most importantly don’t be afraid to fall down a hole, the entire story revolves around Alice trying to fight her way back home, when you fall down a hole due to any specific reasons drugs, alcohol, depression or any other burdens, it’s pretty easy to stay there but you have to fight back up, push yourself, bruise yourself a little bit but fight yourself back out of that hole. There is always a hope, even if your brains give up on you.
7. Belle and the Beast (Beauty and The Beast) – Inner beauty is nothing compared to outside beauty, we learn this from the mighty beast, true beauty comes from within; its about being kind enough to help others and not always thinking about yourself. A chipped cup is better than a perfect one; you might think Chip isn’t important (because he’s broken), but he saves the day by rescuing Belle and Maurice from the basement so they can, in turn save Beast. It’s not too late to realise that imperfection is more perfect than perfection itself. Dare to be different, standing out because your different is not a bad thing, it simply mean you’re a beautiful individual. Embrace what makes you different, because it’s also what makes you special.
8. Peter (Peter Pan) – Peter teaches us that all you need in life Is some faith, trust and a little bit of pixy dust, There are things in life that are not under our control and which we can’t change. That’s when faith comes in handy. We need to trust the natural flow of events and let it go, then and only then we can enjoy our days. No matter how hard we try to mature, we will always remain a kid when we are hurting and crying, we often forget that there is one thing that binds us all together i.e. sufferings, We all feel bad sometimes, and for similar reasons, which makes us equal. So don’t try to grow up too quickly, or at all, keep that spark within and don’t let go of your wildest dreams. You can accomplish amazing things by being positive.
9. Tinkerbell (Peter Pan) – You can be small and powerful, Not only does Tinkerbell focus on friends, it focuses on accepting yourself and who you are meant to be. Tink was ashamed to be a tinker but later found great joy in what she was doing. Tinkerbell helps young kids to realize that they can be whatever they want to be and no one or anything should be allowed to say that you should be something else; it also signifies the importance of friendship stating they will always have your back.
10. Simba (The Lion King) – This beautiful film gives out many messages, one being to worry less, Sometimes bad things happen; you can’t really do anything about it except by just accepting your faith and focusing on your present by staying positive. Trust wisely, choose who you trust, you might never know who can break your heart. Forgive yourself, Simba’s entire life is based on how sorry he felt for himself and constantly blaming him for his father’s demise, feeling sorry for yourself won’t fix anything and as Pumba mentions “you have got to put your past behind”. Another lesson, avoid hyenas, avoid all those negative people in your life, don’t ever let your guard down for those cynical people out there, instead you can think of the people who make you a better person overall and lastly changes are hard but it is proven to be quite beneficial.
