What sort of memories appears in your mind when you think of zoos? If we talk about our experiences, we have such fun and fond memories of going to the zoo. The anticipation of going in, waiting in the queues, watching those beautiful and wonderful animals do their thing and letting our teachers tell us so much about every animal that we lay a finger on. But did you know the animals we used to see on those visits didn’t feel the same thrill we felt? There is a great chance that all those beautiful animals were most likely either in pain or in anguish for being held against their will. All our lives, we have come to this belief that other creatures are there in this world for our entertainment and it is about time, we re-evaluate this belief and begin to see the other side of the picture.

Zoos are popular places for people of all ages to visit for educational as well as for entertainment purposes. But zoos do more harm than good. For many reasons, zoos should be closed because they are no more than pitiful prisons for the innocents. Zoos are made in a way they are convenient to humans not animals. Cages in zoos are designed to furnish the best viewing experience for people. The cages lack privacy and space. Animals are often under stressful conditions. According to PETA, animal’s needs are often overlooked. They are not given ample room to exercise or for mental stimulation moreover average lifespan of animals decrease as they are kept in artificial environments. The theory that zoos are built to provide animals with a better life than they would have in the wild is patently false. Animals deemed "surplus" are often killed to make room for those who bring in more money for the business, according to a study concluded by the Captive Animal Protection Society Throughout the world, selective culling results in hundreds of thousands of dead zoo animals a year.

The zoos played an important role back in time when there were no televisions and before nature documentaries and extensive travel. Seeing animals on televisions or in documentaries in their natural habitat is a real educational tool. It is time to stop pretending zoos are useful tools for conservation and animal well-being. Proponents of zoos claim they provide an educational benefit to the public, but modern technological advances have made those benefits obsolete live footage of wild animals can be streamed using small cameras mounted in their natural habitat and researchers can achieve just as accurate results from the same methods and for entertainment purposes holograms of the animals can be used instead of displaying a real animal. There is no denying that zoos exist to make money, not for educational purposes, and breeding animals in captivity is how they meet that end, but the lie has been preserved for long enough.

We cannot even stay in our homes in this corona virus pandemic then how can you expect a free wild animal to stay in captivity and die there with knowing its true potential. So it is the time to stop this unwanted suffering by signing the petition below and ban these pitiful prisons.

The animals become dependent on humans when they’re in captivity. When animals are in captivity, they lose their natural instincts.
