Even during this dire time where the entire world, including Spain, which happens to be one of the most affected countries by the coronavirus pandemic, Real Madrid continues to work towards the future, as the renovation of Santiago Bernabéu is already underway.
However, Real Madrid have decided to freeze all their transfer market activity in a bid to avoid further fiscal issues, which means that there won’t be new signings for the 2020-21 season. The COVID-19 outbreak has forced clubs all over Europe to bear financial losses and the players have already taken huge pay cuts.
However, Real Madrid are one of the most powerful clubs in Europe, and that hasn’t stopped them in their pursuit of most sought after young players in the world, namely Kylian Mbappé, Eduardo Camavinga, and Erling Braut Håland.
Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain)

From helping underdogs A.S. Monaco to reach the UEFA Champions League semi-finals to winning the World Cup with France at just 19 years of age, Kylian Mbappé’s rise to the top of the world has been dramatic.
Ever since the 2016-17 season, where he stole the limelight with incredible performances, he has been showing maturity levels way beyond his age. This justifies a club like Real Madrid chasing this forward.
Mbappé is yet to extend his current contract, which runs out in June 2022, two seasons from now. Eden Hazard was signed by Real Madrid a year before his contract would expire with Chelsea, for a much lower price, and they seem to be taking the same route here in the pursuit of the 21-year old Frenchman.
It seems unlikely that Mbappé will sign a contract extension since he has flirted with the idea of representing Los Blancos someday in his career.
If Mbappé doesn’t sign a contract extension, Real Madrid will pounce by taking advantage of the situation and PSG will be forced to sell him as they would risk losing him for free in 2022.
All in all, Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappé seem to be a match made in heaven, and his arrival would finally fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Erling Braut Håland (Borussia Dortmund)

If I had to describe the relationship between Real Madrid’s Luka Jović and Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Braut Håland, I would say that Håland is this season’s Luka Jović. Whether or not Jović will remain at Real Madrid will determine if Håland will don the white jersey.
Jović was last season’s best young striker, and Håland is this season’s best young striker, even drawing comparisons with Zlatan Ibrahimović.
Having scored over 40 goals across all competitions already, Real Madrid are reportedly looking to land him at the Bernabéu.
However, with Karim Benzema and Luka Jović in their ranks, signing Håland wouldn’t make a lot of sense. Real Madrid invested 70 million euros to land Jović, and he is someone who is a part of Zidane’s plans moving forward.
Not only that, but Jović is also a Zidane signing, a transfer he himself wanted to materialise, and he likes him.
But that hasn’t stopped other clubs across Europe to enquire about Jović’s services. AC Milan have reportedly opened talks with Jović’s agent for a possible loan move, a deal that Real Madrid might be interested in since that would mean a lot of game time for Jović, something he has struggled for under Zidane in his first season.
Personally, I believe Zidane would retain Jović, and given Benzema is on the wrong side of the thirties, it isn’t long before the Serbian makes the striker position his own and stake a claim in the starting XI.
It is hard to see Håland becoming a Real Madrid player anytime soon.
Eduardo Camavinga (Rennes)

Landing Camavinga was inevitable for Real Madrid, as he has made a name for himself as the most promising midfielder in the French Ligue 1.
The news of Madrid pursuing the signing of the 17-year old teenage sensation has gained a lot of traction in the last few months.
Real Madrid and Zidane identified Camavinga to be the ideal backup and future replacement for Casemiro, who is the only defensive midfielder in the squad at the moment.
However, as fate would have it, COVID-19 forced football and everything else to stop, leading to Real Madrid freezing their transfer activity and Rennes automatically qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Had football resumed normally, it was possible for Rennes to miss out on a Champions League spot, which would have made it much easier for Real Madrid to land Camavinga for the 2020-21 campaign.
However, Camavinga looks set to sign for Real Madrid at the end of next season. All reports before the lockdown pointed towards just one direction: Camavinga would be a Real Madrid player for the 2020-21 season.
Camavinga’s transfer to Real Madrid has no ifs and buts to it, unlike the Mbappé and Håland situations, which depend on a lot of other factors.
If these players do end up joining Real Madrid, then Real Madrid will have an elite squad at their disposal, as the likes of Martin Ødegaard and Achraf Hakimi will return after completing their respective loans.
