10 Things We Love About Choosing BMM(B.A-MMC) in College
|By- Team Take Two|
First things first, only Mumbai people know what BMM is. BMM stands for Bachelors in Mass Media. A course that people perceive to be the easiest way out for the lazy, incompetent, not-so-studious kids. Well, lazy can be a word, but creativity runs in our body. BMM is like a roller coaster ride, the creative juices are always at their peak and there is not a single moment you do not feel 'butterflies in your stomach'. If you are reading this while you are deciding whether to take or not to take BMM after your school is over, maybe these points will help you.

We asked different media students in Mumbai and here are the 10 things that make BMM special for them:
1. It's comparably a creative field: This course is like a startup among corporates. You don't have much stress of study. Legit like minded people can be found everywhere around and very positively desperate crowd - since this an idea field. Along with good engineering colleges, the most number of collaborations and new ideas come from BMM.
2. There's no stream restriction: Commerce, Science or Humanities, everyone is welcomed with open arms here. There is no discrimination or restriction or judgments passed on where you came from. Your subjects do not define you. Your personalities do.
3. The versatility in students: Student from every background is in my class.. people like me who did arts, people who gave JEE and NEET entrances, people who are pursuing fashion designing, graphic designing, web designing along with BMM! So it's really fun to interact with them, you can learn something from everyone around.
4. BMM is a field that's filled with experience: It's not just about studying a particular subject or area of expertise but rather the entire field of media that seems to be flourishing as time passes.
From trying to be a director to a journalist, an editor to an advertiser, you can try to be anything you want. These 3 years gives ample time and opportunities to figure out our USP in the field.
5. BMM gives you a voice of your own: It has taught me how to raise my voice against the odds and most importantly it has given an ability to analyse things and as a result i have a certain opinion of my own which makes me different from others because people today love to follow the lead, and BMM makes you take the lead.
6. It brings out the best in you: BMM makes you learn and adapt to new things that you never thought of doing. It made me learn how to communicate with different kinds of people, speaking in public, overcoming my fears, and especially do what makes you happy. It has brought out the best in me and totally a different side of me that I never knew existed. Knowing nothing about something but, learning something new about that every day and one day mastering it, it's what I'll say BMM has taught me.
7. It introduces one to various art forms: Every person in the planet loves art or rather some form of art! And some choose to take it a notch higher and practice it! 'This is where our guy BMM comes in.' I personally love BMM as it introduces to various art forms and practically helps in instilling it.
8. It teaches you the joy of teamwork: BMM to me is a culture, a culture with various experiences, beliefs and values . It teaches you the joy of teamwork, but also shows you the error of leadership. It's a beautiful mix of academics and extracurriculars blended together in a wonderful concoction called the 'BMM Life'.
9. The fests: Coming from a science background, I was never introduced to these things. But it took no time for these college festivals to make me fall in love with them. One or two days of sheer competition and going home so tired and yet so satisfied is what made it so special. But the best part is not participating in fests, but organising them. You put in months of time for 2 days and there are no regrets whatsoever.
10. BMM prepares you for rejection: I know this might sound like a thing one would not love about BMM but I really think this is one reason I love BMM for, in retrospect when I look back at these three years. People say you generate money for your ideas today but ideas become ideas when the person giving them goes through a mental revolution. This course teaches you how to face complete rejection. It prepares you for life, it makes you realise your worth because you build it over the years as you fall and rise back again.
BMM might become B.A-MMC now, but it will always be the field where you can explore what lies within you. Take Two is born out of this and we owe it to BMM.
